I am always on the hunt for natural non-toxic ways to clean and make my house smell amazing. As someone who struggles with allergies, we’ve been simmering simple pots with different herbs, fruits and spices throughout all seasons to make our home smell amazing. This recipe is my absolute favorite for the winter months and holiday seasons.
Today I will show you just how simple this recipe is!
Christmas Stovetop Potpourri Ingredients:
You can use any spices, herbs and fruits to create your own simmer pot. For the holiday season these are my favorites:
- Orange slices (dried or fresh: I dry them to gift and to have them last longer)
- Fresh cranberries
- Cloves
- Rosemary
- Cinnamon sticks
How to Make Christmas Stovetop Potpourri:
- Begin by filling a pot of water.
- Put in a handful of cranberries, a few fresh or dried orange slices and your spices.
- Heat the pot over medium-high heat until it boils a bit, reduce the heat to low and allow it to simmer. This is where the smell will come in as of now you are done!
- Make sure to keep an eye on the water level and fill with more water as needed.
As I’ve said before, this is easily customized. Add in star anise, bay leaves or nutmeg. Put in apple slices, lemons or limes. (Powdered versions won’t work as well so stick to whole herbs and spices)
I hope you give it a try this holiday season. It also makes a wonderful gift, head to my instagram to see how i created simple gift idea. if you can’t think of anything. Customize it and make it your own. Pour some water and repeat!
