Another year of homeschooling is about to start!
Our official start date is September 30 and it can’t come quick enough. We are all so excited to start another school year. I’ve been planning for few months now and collecting different resources I wanted to use this school year. We will be homeschooling exclusively from home (no tutorial or co-ops) it truly is one of my favorite ways of homeschooling. The together time without running around all over the place is simply worth it to me. Although, we do have planned some fun groups and events we want to put together for them to meet with friends and make new ones too.
This year I will be homeschooling 4 out of 5 kiddos. Our oldest is heading into 5th grade, our second into 3rd , our third into 1st grade and our 5 year old will be starting Kindergarten. We will also have a sweet two year tagging along and enjoying many books and playful ways of learning. For the sake of not making this an encyclopedia book in length I’ll just share the books we will be using and not much more. If you have any questions please feel free to email or comment. I have used many of these books for years and as with most things there are pros and cons to them all.
Let’s start with our group subjects. I will try to write a post about how this will work, but simply put we will all be learning the same subjects together at differing depths and volumes.
Our group subjects will be:
- History: Simply Charlotte Mason Genesis-Deuteronomy and Ancient Egypt.
- Geography: Simply Charlotte Mason Visits to Africa
- Science: Masterbooks God’s design for Life
- Spanish
- Morning time basket
- Tea Times
Our morning time basket and tea times include so many different books and resources it deserves its own post. We will be using a lot of the same things we have used throughout the years in our morning basket, alongside added on resources.
Our individual subject are:
- Math: 5th grade, 3rd grade, 1st grade and Kindergarten (we are starting with preschool but I am confident he will move thru it pretty quickly and we will move on to K)
- LA: 5th grade, 3rd grade, 1st grade and Kindergarten
- Writing: 5th grade, 3rd grade, 1st grade and Kindergarten
We will be doing tons of reading individually and together. The year sure seems full and there are plenty of reading books under each curriculum I did not list. But we are so looking forward to more together time and the chance to learn together.
This will be a great year, but as always I will say hold curriculum loosely and their hearts close!
