All of a sudden the summer flew by and back to school is here again!
One of my most favorite time of the year is back to school! I do naturally love to celebrate all of the things and back to school is extra special for us! I am ready to start planning a fun breakfast, some super simple decor (I’ll probably diy most of it), along with putting together their first day of school baskets. They love waking up to their baskets, much like Easter basket, we do back to school baskets. A small celebration like this is the perfect way to start your homeschool journey. It sets a tone of togetherness, celebrations and joy.
One of our most cherished traditions is first day of school shirts. Each kiddo will be getting a homemade shirt, with their grade on it. I usually diy a shirt for them based on their current likes (cartoons, toys, games characters etc). This year I’m thinking of a Mario, Nintendo themed shirt for all of them, the girls will each get their favorite princess and the boys will be Mario and Luigi. For the past two years I have simply used an Etsy listing I found and purchased. Made so simple since I didn’t have to plan a design, just buy the shirt, cut it with my cricut and iron it on.
Our second tradition is their back to school baskets. I bought some amazing back to school baskets last year at Target dollar spot. I saved them and plan to continue to save them for years to come.
Last years baskets had a pencil box inside, like these, with brand new color pencils, markers, crayons, rulers, scissors, fun erasers and more fun stuff. I also got them each a new set of books to read. This year we will be doing the same, we will have a brand new start with brand new sets of crayons and markers for each one to care for during their school year. Not only is this a fun way to celebrate pretty inexpensively, these are all useful things they will each use during their school year. Underneath all of the fun will be their curriculum. We usually use the first day of school as a way for them to get acquainted with their books. So they spend the day flipping and reading thru them all. Making precious memories is what it’s all about and because of that I’ve made a simple back to school printable interview for you, all you have to do is print it out!
Can’t wait for the first day of school to be here! Celebrating occasions like this is such a great way to bring the family together with joy and fun anticipation. It’ll get them and you excited for a new school year to be wonderful!
