This is by far the easiest bread recipe ever!
Whether you want a whole loaf or rolls you can easily shape it into a pumpkin! Great for a Thanksgiving table or to give as a hostess gift.
I am ready for all things pumpkin shaped, taste and smell! This bread would be super cute as a soup bowl on a cozy fall evening. Fall is one of those amazing seasons that just brings with it so much goodness and joy. Though I love every season, it’s undeniable there’s something about fall.
A little advice before we go to the recipe: #1) I prefer the overnight method, I think you get a better loaf but the 2 hours is great in a pinch for sure. #2) Use cooking string, it’s not very expensive and worth it. #3) Add a little stem for even more fun, by just adding a cinnamon stick on top.
This recipe is so simple and doesn’t require very much. All you need is:
- A bowl
- Dutch oven
- Parchment paper
- Cooking string
- Flour
- Yeast
- Salt
- water
Mix yeast and warm water and let bloom for 15 min
Add salt and flour and mix until well combined. Dough will be sticky. Let rise for 2 hrs or over night (8-12 hrs).
Form your star shape by layering cooking string one over the other as pictured.
Sprinkle flour and shape dough into a ball and place in the middle of the star. Tie each string and cut off the excess. Cover and let rise for another 30 min. Preheat oven to 450 with your dutch oven inside and the lid on.
Once the 30 min are up and your oven is preheated, carefully remove the pan and oil it. (Please be very careful itll be very very hot).
Drop your bread inside and cook for 30 min with the lid on and another 15 min with the lid off.
