It’s FALL!
Here’s a simple fall buckets list of things you can do with very minimal planning. List like these are a great way of creating traditions in your home. It’s always the little things we remember the most.
- First on the list is to make a pie. This recipe looks amazing but whether you choose to make apple pie or pumpkin making something together is the whole point. So if you have very little kiddos like I do (5 kiddos 9 and under) go for the easy pies, maybe even store bought pie crust or a graham cracker crust.
- Go to a pumpkin patch and pick out a pumpkin. You can carve it and roast the pumpkin seeds in the oven.
- Watch a fall movie with the family. You can find good options on Amazon Prime, Minno Kids & Pure Flix. Use your discernment when picking a film and take kids ages and emotional maturity into account.
- Have a chili night: Hosting a chili night is a great way to get together with other families, chili can feed a multitude of people.
- Read fall themed books: Check out fall themed books from your library. Brighter Day Press has a great list of picture books and also a monthly book list for an easy way to find new books to read.
- Go on a hike: Now that the weather is cooler being outside is so much better. Google some local hiking spots and set out on an adventure. Being in nature is always a good idea.
- Buy a new plant: Speaking of good ideas… lol! Gardening season is going to rest and now is the perfect time to focus on indoor plants. My indoor plants are neglected practically all summer long but once fall starts my attention goes straight to them and whatever new addition I find. They also tend to go on sale during this time so it’s a great time to add to your indoor plant collection.
- Go thrifting: Nothing is cozier than a thrift store! It’s just the perfect thing to do on a cool day to stroll down the isles and look at all vintage things with warm cup of coffee in hand…PERFECTION!
- Decorate your porch: Let me start by saying it doesn’t need to be a pinterest porch! Simple changes such as pillow covers and a new mailbox cover. Getting rid of tired flowers in your front pots makes all the difference. Add some mums, pansies or violas, some ornamental kale and cabbage. Simple changes make all the difference.
- Make a fall bouquet: The flowers is what I miss the most about summer and spring seasons. Heading to the store and filling your home with fresh blooms makes the home feel cozy and pretty. It adds that new life and cheer to the grey days of fall and winter.
- Simmer potpourri on the stove: Add to a small pot of simmering water some apple and orange slices. Put in some cloves and cinnamon sticks, along with a splash of vanilla and your home will have a sweet fall scent. So easy and so much better to breath in.
- Go on a car ride: It’s always good to just get out of the house sometimes. A drive is the perfect way to get everyone in and in their spots, maybe pick up a warm drink and go see how the leaves have changed. Play an I spy game or just listen to music and sing along.
I hope this list is helpful to you and just simplifies little rituals to create during this season. Building small little traditions just a little at a time!
